Prepare for your Headshot Session

What to Expect:

  • I currently work in a rental studio space; feel free to bring someone along for your comfort.

  • I'll ask that you sign a basic contract (including deliverables, artistic discretion, and release for social media).

  • I'll shoot "tethered" to a computer so I can quickly show you the photos and make adjustments.

  • I’ll coach you through poses and facial expressions - I’ve shot with hundreds of people and many people are a bit nervous. I’ll help you through the whole session.

  • We'll select shots along the way that look good enough to consider.

  • At the end, we'll narrow it down to the photos you wish to purchase. They will be professionally post-processed and retouched.

How to Prepare

  • Simple clothes work best - you don't want the outfit to compete with your face. I suggest bringing a plain-white, plain-black, and solid-colored shirt. Avoid frills.

  • Bring multiple looks - there’s no outfit limit - we can’t shoot it if you don’t bring it.

  • Avoid jewelry or anything that will compete with your face.

  • Avoid reflective makeup and clothing (hair clips) if you can.

  • Please arrive with your hair "audition ready”; but I do have a bathroom where you can touchup or change.

  • If you intend to wear make up (discouraged if you normally don’t, gents), I encourage you to hire a makeup artist. I have several I work with and can help you arrange one.

  • Don't worry about concealing temporary blemishes - those are easy to correct in post-processing and poking at them tends to discolor the skin, which is harder to correct.

  • If you wear glasses, bring multiple pairs in case we face reflection issues.

  • If you have a specific look in mind, let me know so I can prepare for it.
